Child Surgeries Tanzania - Report - Page 4
Day 1
Melbourne to Tanzania
The goal of the trip
1. Assess the children’s health. We reviewed 70 cases on this trip.
2. Consideration to developing a more extensive local network. For the
children this would reduce the impact of travel trauma, cost and time away
from parents, school and social networks.
3. Evaluate the quality of treatments provided at major hospitals in Babati,
Singida, Tabora and Kigoma.
4. Expand our network of local ambassadors and community health
advisors to increase health visibility in the villages and improve the
responsiveness and transparency of our processes.

This is my seventh trip to Tanzania and
I always fly from Qatar into Doha and
then Kilimanjaro. I’ve never had an issue,
except as I get older, I am finding flying
economy more of a challenge.
5. Acknowledge and thank the staff and friends in Tanzania for their
accomplishment of 1,000 surgeries performed on children.
6. Conduct a face-to-face meeting with the concerned villagers of Mvugwe
to address a rehab corruption issue that had occurred.
7. Officially open the new children’s wing at Selian.
8. Provide financial literacy training to the hospital staff at Selian.
9. Spend time with our new CEO and visit our new head office at Kasulu.
10. Create a specialised donor travel program, providing a unique itinerary
to be managed by local providers for future tours.
11. Explore the potential of smart contracts and cryptocurrencies for fraud
and theft prevention.
12. Evaluate the design of an App for a children’s network.
We wanted to review if what we have been doing feels right, can be done
a better way and have some fun.
